The Kali Gear Aluminum Training Ginunting is a great tool for training blade awareness and control. We designed it to give you the feel of a real ginunting in weight, balance, and grip, so you can get more out of your training.
Training with a rattan stick is a common practice with in the Filipino Martial Arts, but edged weapons are at the source of the art. Live blade training is good, but not not always practical or safe. By using a training weapon that mimics the real weapon, you can refine your skills without the risk of getting cut or cutting someone else. That's why we made this - to help you train.
Modeled after a traditional fighting ginunting from the islands of Panay or Negros, the Aluminum Training Ginunting looks real. With the simulated blade contouring and the shape exactly like that of the real blade, it will fool anyone over 3 feet away. The handles are cast with a very tough ABS plastic. The contoured grip and allows better control with the same feel as the traditional design.

Great Practice Weapon
Posted by Kamal on 2nd Sep 2019
Solid aluminum construction with a handle that is held securely in place. This will definitely last! Great feel and good for training and practicing your "cutting angles and lines". I purchased two of them to practice my hands at the same time.
LOVIN THIS THING!

I got this thing and wow! It's got a little weight to it like a real ginunting and feels great in the hand. The plastic piece is solid and feels very durable. I had no rattling or any noise from this trainer. I'll definitely be buying another later on because the quality is just really great! Thank you!
I've been wanting one

The sword is very nice. It looks much better than the photo. It is not a contact weapon but great for training. Sometimes I feel like I hear a little rattle in the handle but it seems tight. One of the screws may need to be tightened. Otherwise, no complaints. It's a good product.
Great training ginunting!

I love this training sword! It is the closest thing to a real ginunting in terms of weight and balance. It gives me a sense of safety and the feel of a live blade in my drills and practices. I highly recommend it.
Great training tool!

This aluminum trainer is top-notch! Good workmanship and good balance. This trainer matches the length and weight of a typical 26 inch stick pretty closely. The only think I had to do was take some fine grit sandpaper and smooth off some of the edges on the plastic grip to make it more comfortable. It may seem a little pricey, but I like to point out that you will spend far more time working with a trainer than a real blade. So don't skimp on the trainer!
I Vanquish My Enemies
Posted by Paul on 25th May 2017
In the morning I fashion a loin cloth from my Home Depot canvas apron and pray to the spirit of Lapu-Lapu to divulge the appropriate amount of punyo one needs. When the incense smoke clears I take my training ginunting to the front yard where I bow in and warm up with various footwork and drills. The neighbors look over briefly and with disapproval as I glide effortlessly, my pale skin reflecting sunlight into the eyes of all creatures in the vicinity. As the sweat glistens on my bare chest I imagine I killed Magellan and resisted the Spanish. Meanwhile my neighbors call the cops because my canvas apron has unraveled.
As for the ginunting, it is well made and well balanced. It is a pleasure to swing, feeling it move through the air, cutting, slashing, thrusting imaginary opponents. My yard is not for conquest. The tip has a bit of a sharp point so I don't recommend a jab to your training partner's eyes or an angle 5 through the exit. The handle has holes where the handle is attached to the tang. This can cause hot spots with extended use. I found tape relieves this for the most part.
Overall this is a great training tool and I'm considering buying another one so I can be an Osprey helicopter for Halloween. I'm so lonely.
Superior Sandata Training Tool

I ordered this item recently and was very pleased in the rate of receipt. The purchase was straight forward. The packaging was intact after traveling all the way to Alaska. Having used this item extensively for the past month, I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy this piece. It is well balanced, the detail work on the blade and handle are nicely done. Overall, I would suggest this to anyone serious into sandata training for FMA. I will be buying another one.
